Is support for XP really ended?

Yes, you will no more get Microsoft XP updates for OS and system drivers. Microsoft has successfully stopped providing system drivers for XP systems. Rather you will get some few office updates and security updates, but unfortunately they will not get installed no matter what version of microsoft office you have installed.
So, if you are feeling to install XP OS and you don't have drivers disk, then I will suggest not to do so. Without drivers the display resolution will be 1024x768 and neither you can play games, nor you can watch movies. But, yes you can defitely use it for browsing and business purposes.
