What is the scene of digital broadcasting in India?

Digital broadcasting is yet to generate mass appeal in India as it is in the nascent stage of implementation. Besides limitation in availability, the cost is still prohibitive for many.

Doordarshan introduced DAB on an experimental basis in Delhi on April 1, 1997, but nothing substantial has been implemented after that. There are plans to gradually spread it to other metros.
